The rail lookout cabin is fully enclosed and heated. It features free WiFi and
electric outlets for your notebook computer. An ATCS monitor shows approaching
trains from dozens of miles away plus there is a railroad scanner tuned to the
local frequency providing communication between the crews and dispatchers.
Even from inside the lookout cabin the views of the BNSF mainline are great!
"Maw" and "Paw" restrooms are conveniently located right next to the rail lookout.
There is also an outdoor BBQ for picnics while watching trains.
Amtrak Southwest Chief
and a freight train pass by the rail lookout.
Guests staying at the
Depot Inn & Suites
may borrow their golf cart
to drive themselves from the hotel to the rail lookout point.
The non-profit American Passenger Rail Heritage Foundation owns, maintains and provides the
rail lookout cabin & deck free of charge to the public in order to encourage appreciation of
