The APRHF Silver Rails Memorial Library is devoted to books, journals, videos, and other media
related to railroads. Though all aspects of railroads are featured, the library has a particular
emphasis on passenger rail heritage. The library has one of the largest collections of books and
videos related to Amtrak and the history of Amtrak. Many are very rare volumes that are difficult
to find anywhere else.
In the Spring of 2014 the APRHF began an effort to consolidate operations by moving the
APRHF Silver Rails Memorial Library from its original location into a dedicated section of the
APRHF Silver Rails Event Center. This consolidation reduces staffing
needs as well as rent and utility costs which will allow the library to remain open longer hours.
The library is expected to re-open to public access in late Summer 2014.
